Hello, I am Janhavi (pronounced jaan-vee)! I am a User Experience Researcher, who is also interested in UX Design. I am currently working as an associate Business Analyst with Infosys, while completing my Masters in Human Computer Interaction at the Rochester Institute of Technology.
I am originally from India. I come from a background of caste and economic privilege, and try my best to stay aware of the prerogative afforded to me by it. I hope to use this position of privilege to foster social equity through my design practice.
I am deeply curious about the ways in which socioeconomic systems can impact who has access to and control over the way experiences are designed, and have tried to explore themes of social justice, inclusion and equity in my project work.
In the future, I would love to learn how and when to apply Participatory Design methods, so that I can facilitate users to be active co-designers. I am also deeply interested in exploring digital governance and the application of UX methods in public policy design further. At the moment, I'm learning a lot about working in an enterprise environment, balancing business and user requirements, and working alongside developers and UX designers from my current job.
I am currently looking for full-time and apprenticeship opportunities in UX Research, especially for Social Impact. I would love to hear from you, about your work, design practice, or any work opportunities!
A bit more about me:
I do my best to volunteer for causes I strongly believe in.
A picture of me in the middle of a group discussion with international volunteers at the YDP-Bangalore.
As an undergrad, I would volunteer at the Youth Development Programme (YDP) in Bangalore. I had the opportunity to participate in and lead multiple projects across the city, to promote sustainability and citizen-led community development. I had the opportunity to work with youth volunteers from across the world, and learn more about their cultures.
I most recently volunteered with We, The World to ensure that their website for the Gender Diverse Lives Project was compliant with WCAG 2.1 (AA). The site is no longer up and running due to issues with funding and because many of us were unable to continue giving time to the project.
Currently, I am trying to get involved with mutual aid networks in my city.

I find drawing and painting to be very relaxing! I have been trying to make more digital art lately, but I really enjoy using more traditional, physical media. Check out my (very basic) Behance, if you'd like to see more: https://www.behance.net/findjanhavi
